  • Brilliant film!! 2012-03-04

Jean Dujardin, man, take a bow, for you were out of this world!! (He now joins the list of my all time favorite actors)

The moment you know that it’s a black and white silent movie, you have this notion in your head, a notion you cannot describe. But having enjoyed the all time Indian silent classic Pushpak years ago, I kinda was motivated to watch this film (even before it won the Oscars). I am glad I did.

The Artist is a movie which you can connect with. It’s very predictable at times, but brilliant, moving yet humorous performances by Jean Dujardin, Berenice Bejo and every

  • Expressions that matter 2012-03-02

“And the Oscar goes to…” Few days back, we heard this line and then we saw the crew going up the stage along with the dog-wonder as well. Yesterday I got the privilege to see the movie which grabbed two prestigious Oscars for best direction and the best picture defeating the likes of Moneyball and Hugo. All it did without uttering a single word. Silence does such tricks sometimes, and the barriers of language seem ever so small then.

  • A different treatment to a simple story 2012-02-28

A B&W film without dialogues in 2011. How could anyone even conceive of such a project, let alone direct and produce it successfully.
The absence of the technical wizardry and special effects means that the content and the actors have to be superlative to make this work.
Thankfully, no one disappoints in this regard. Starting the Uggy the dog, the cast is phenomenal. The lack of dialogues makes us concentrate even more on the facial expressions, and that is the trick (IMO) which makes us care for the people in the movie. It's been a long time since I really cared for what happened to any

  • reminds me of the charlie daz 2012-02-27

Before stepping in, i took it to be an art fim but its nowhere there...neither is it a romantic comedy...its true it does has some laughing bytes but for sure its nothing close to comedy.
I do respect the effort behind this movie, also it reminds us of those days when movies were still great without nay VFX effects.Very well expressed without dialogues. The subject though wasn't that great absolute predictable and know but for sure its worth how the treatment is taken care of. A perfect piece of cinema.
I personally loved the way the cute little dog is integrated through out the story.
